Localcouncils is now up to date with the results from this year’s round of local elections. This update notes all the other changes in local electoral information which were not part of the annual round of local election.
Results
- Chelmsford: The byelection in Broomfield and The Walthams ward held on 7 May was won by Seena Shah. Conservative gain from Liberal Democrat.
- Chesterfield: The byelection for two seats in Staveley North ward held on 7 May was won by Steven Barlow and Dawn Taylor. Reform UK gain seats from Labour and the Liberal Democrats.
- East Hertfordshire: The byelection in Little Hadham and The Pelhams ward held on 7 May was won by Jeff Jones. Conservative hold.
- Gloucestershire: The byelection in St Mark’s and St Peter’s division held on 7 May was won by Victoria Atherstone. Liberal Democrat hold.
- Great Yarmouth: The byelection in Caister South ward held on 7 May was won by Jon Wedon. Great Yarmouth First gain from Conservative.
- Guildford: The byelection in Onslow ward held on 7 May was won by James Steel. Liberal Democrat hold.
- Hertfordshire: The byelection in Flamstead End and Turnford division held on 7 May was won by Lesley Greensmyth. Conservative gain from Reform UK.
- Hertsmere: The byelection in Bentley Heath and The Royds ward held on 7 May was won by John Graham. Conservative hold.
- Horsham: The byelection in Itchinfield, Slinfold and Warnham ward held on 7 May was won by Ross Dye. Conservative gain from Liberal Democrat.
- Lewes: The byelection for two seats in Newhaven South ward held on 7 May was won by James Harrison and Jo Pettitt. Liberal Democrats hold both seats.
- Mid Sussex: The byelection in Hurstpierpoint ward held on 7 May was won by Lyn Williams. Liberal Democrat hold.
- Newport: The byelection in Rogerstone North ward held on 7 May was won by Nick Baneswell. Conservative hold.
- Powys: The byelection in Llandrindod South ward held on 7 May was won by Lauren d’Silva. Liberal Democrat hold.
- Reigate and Banstead: The byelection in Earlswood and Whitebushes ward held on 7 May was won by Robin Whitwell. Green Party hold.
- Rother: The byelection in Rye and Winchelsea ward held on 7 May was won by Daniel Bradley. Reform UK gain from Labour.
- Somerset: The byelection in Mendip Hills division held on 7 May was won by Sam Phripp. Liberal Democrat hold.
- Stratford-on-Avon: The byelection in Bishops Itchington, Fenny Compton and Napton ward held on 7 May was won by Jake Beavan. Liberal Democrat hold.
- Surrey: The byelection in Warlingham division held on 7 May was won by Jacquie Thomson. Reform UK gain from Conservative.
- West Northamptonshire: The byelection in Hackleton and Roade ward held on 7 May was won by Laura Weston. Reform UK regain a seat lost when the previous councillor left the party.
- West Suffolk: The byelection in Abbeygate ward held on 7 May was won by Dylan Roques. Green Party gain from Conservative.
Defections
- Amber Valley:: The two councillors from the Amber Valley Independents group who joined Advance UK in January have now left it; Steve Bower (Heanor West and Roscoe ward) and Philip Rose (Ironville and Riddings ward) have reformed the Amber Valley Independents group. Meanwhile Emma Monkman, who was elected for the Labour Party in Belper North ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Bassetlaw: Two councillors who were elected for Labour Party, left it, and announced they had joined Restore Britain last month, have not been accepted by Restore Britain and have formed the Bassetlaw First group. They are Deborah Merryweather (Worksop East ward) and Fraser Merryweather (Worksop North East ward).
- Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole: Two councillors elected for the Green Party have left it to form the Moordown Independents group. They are Joe Salmon and Kate Salmon, both of whom represent Moordown ward.
- Bromsgrove: Sam Ammar, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Charford ward, has been suspended from the party and is now sitting as an Independent councillor.
- Burnley: Don Whitaker, who was elected for the Conservatives in Whittlefield with Ightenhill ward, has joined Restore Britain.
- Croydon: Mark Adderley, who was elected for the Green Party in Crystal Palace and Upper Norwood ward but was suspended during the election campaign, has taken his seat as an Independent councillor.
- Derbyshire: Emma Monkman, who was elected for the Labour Party in North Belper division, has joined the Derbyshire Independents.
- Devon: Two councillors who joined Advance UK in January have now left it and reverted to sitting as Independent county councillors. They are Edward Hill (Pinhoe and Mincinglake division) and Angela Nash (Wonford and St Loyes division).
- Gwynedd: Gareth Roberts, who was elected in Dewi ward for Plaid Cymru, has left the party to sit as an Individual member.
- Harborough: Two councillors elected for the Liberal Democrats have left the party to sit as Independent councillors. They are Buddy Anderson (Market Harborough Great Bowden and Arden ward) and Jo Asher (Lubenham ward).
- Harrow: Will Jackson, who was elected in North Harrow ward as a Conservative while suspended from the party, has taken his seat as an Independent councillor.
- Hastings: Danuta Kean, who was elected for the Labour Party in Hollington ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Leeds: Jess Lennox, who was elected for the Labour Party in Cross Gates and Whinmoor ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Newcastle upon Tyne: Mohammed Suleman, who was elected for the Green Party in Arthur’s Hill ward while suspended from the party, has taken his seat as an Independent councillor.
- North East Derbyshire: Four councillors have joined Reform UK. Carolyn Renwick (Ridgeway and Marsh Lane) and Mark Foster (Coal Aston ward) were elected for the Conservatives, while Heather Liggett (Shirland ward) and Jessica Stokes (Clay Cross North ward) were all elected as North East Derbyshire Independents.
- North Yorkshire: Tim Grogan, who was elected for the Conservatives in Monk Fryston and South Milford division, has joined Reform UK.
- Oxfordshire: Nick Cotter, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Bicester South division, has left the party to sit as an ungrouped Independent.
- Peterborough: Kirsty Knight, who was elected as an Independent in Orton Waterville ward, has joined the Conservatives. Meanwhile Ishfaq Hussain, who was elected for the Conservatives in Dogsthorpe ward while suspended from the party, has taken his seat as an Independent.
- Plymouth: Ben Rowe, who was elected for Reform UK in Ham ward, has been suspended from the party and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
- Powys: Tom Colbert, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Bronllys and Felin-fach ward, has left the party to sit as a non-affiliated member.
- Preston: Freddie Bailey, who was elected for the Labour Party in Garrison ward, has left the party to sit as a Labour Independent councillor.
- Redditch: Ashley Monk, who was elected for Reform UK in Batchley and Brockhill ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Sheffield: Nathaniel Menday, who was elected for Reform UK in Woodhouse ward, has been suspended from the party and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
- Spelthorne: Lisa Brennan, who was elected for the Conservatives in Shepperton Town ward, has left the party to sit as an unaffiliated Independent councillor.
- Sunderland: Glenn Gibbins, who was elected for Reform UK in Hylton Castle ward, has been suspended from the party and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
- Tamworth: Lee Wood, who was elected for the Labour Party in Castle ward, has joined the Green Party.
- Tower Hamlets: Abul Monsur, who was elected for Aspire in Lansbury ward while suspended from the party, has taken his seat as an Independent councillor.
- Vale of White Horse: Mike Pighills, who was elected in Abingdon Peachcroft ward for the Liberal Democrats, is has left the party and is now sitting as an Independent councillor.
- Wakefield: Nick Farmer, who was elected for Reform UK in Ossett ward, has been suspended from the party and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
- Worcestershire: Conservative group leader Adam Kent (Wythall division) has been suspended from the party following the deal with the Green Party. Meanwhile two county councillors elected for Reform UK have left the group to sit as Independents: they are Jo Monk (Redditch East division) and her son Ashley Monk (Redditch West division). Finally Sam Ammar, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Bromsgrove South division, has been suspended from her party.

- Bolton: Horwich North ward, after the resignation of Communities First councillor Ryan Bamforth, who was elected for Horwich and Blackrod First. Term ends 2027.
- Brighton and Hove: Goldsmid ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Jackie O’Quinn, who was elected for the Labour Party. Term ends 2027.
- Caerphilly: Hengoed ward, after the resignation of Plaid Cymru councillor Donna Cushing on election to Senedd Cymru. Term ends 2027.
- Camden: Regent’s Park ward, after the disqualification of Green Party councillor Muhammad Abu Naser who is employed by the local authority. Term ends 2030.
- Cardiff: Splott ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Huw Thomas on election to Senedd Cymru. Term ends 2027.
- Carmarthenshire: Llangennech ward, after the resignation of Plaid Cymru councillor Carmelo Colasanto on election to Senedd Cymru. Term ends 2027.
- Conwy: Gogarth Mostyn ward, after the resignation of Reform UK councillor Louise Emery (who was elected as a Conservative)on election to Senedd Cymru. Term ends 2027.
- Conwy: Tudno ward, after the resignation of Reform UK councillor Thomas Montgomery (who was elected as a Conservative) on election to Senedd Cymru. Term ends 2027.
- Denbighshire: Llanrhaeadr-yng-Nghinmeirch ward, after the resignation of Plaid Cymru councillor Elfed Williams on election to Senedd Cymru. Term ends 2027.
