Independent 5, Wakefield Independent Group 3. Yorkshire cathedral city in the middle of an industrial, ex-mining area. The 'Rhubarb Triangle' is in the area, as are the power station of Ferrybridge and Kellingly colliery.

Normanton has a double vacancy election on 2 May (held by Labour). Graham Isherwood (Featherstone) is suspended from the Labour whip until 25 April. Nadiah Sharp (Wrenthorpe and Outwood) moved from Labour to Independent in December 2023.
