North Yorkshire Independent 8, Independent unaffiliated 3. The most rural part of Yorkshire, including York itself, the Scarborough/Whitby/Filey coast area, the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales.

The Secretary of State intends to institute a unitary council for North Yorkshire. At byelections on 6 May the Conservatives gained Harrogate Bilton and Nidd Gorge from the Liberal Democrats. Elections due in 2021 have been postponed by a year to allow a consultation on unitary local government. Mike Jordan (South Selby) returned to the Conservatives from the Yorkshire Party in 2021.
