Brighton and Hove Independents 2, non-aligned 2, Independent 1. City (status granted 2000) on the Sussex coast; a very cosmopolitan area. Resort town dependent on tourism and conferences, but also IT connected to the universities. In 2011 it became the first council to be controlled by the Green Party.

Labour held South Portslade at a byelection on 11 January. Bharti Gajjar (Kemptown) and Chandni Mistry (Queen’s Park) moved from Labour to non-aligned in December 2023.
