Independents 4, Brighton and Hove Independents 2. City (status granted 2000) on the Sussex coast; a very cosmopolitan area. Resort town dependent on tourism and conferences, but also IT connected to the universities. In 2011 it became the first council to be controlled by the Green Party.
Goldsmid has a byelection on 25 June (held by an Independent elected as Labour). Bruno De Oliveira (Hollingdean and Fiveways) moved from Independent to Green Party in January 2026.
