Derbyshire Independents 3, Independent 1. North midlands county which includes the Peak district in the north-east, and a large industrial area in the west. Had a famously left-wing Labour leadership under David Bookbinder from 1981 to 1992.

The government proposes to replace the county council with two unitary councils in 2027. Emma Monkman (North Belper) moved from Labour to Derbyshire Independents in May 2026. Angelique Foster (Dronfield Woodhouse and Walton) moved from Conservative to Independent in February 2026. The Green Party gained Horsley from Reform UK at a byelection on 20 January.
