There is a byelection on 21 November in Fort William and Ardnamurchan ward (held by the Liberal Democrats). At byelections on 26 September, a Liberal Democrat and an Independent held seats in Cromarty Firth, and Labour held Inverness Central. Struan Mackie (Thurso and Northwest Caithness) moved from Conservative to non-aligned; Thomas MacLennan (Fort William and Ardnamurchan) moved from Highland Alliance to non-aligned; Andrew Sinclair (Inverness South) moved from Conservative to Highland Alliance, in September 2024. An Independent held Tain and Easter Ross ward at a byelection on 13 June. Duncan McDonald (Inverness South) moved from Highland Independent to non-aligned in June 2024, to Highland Alliance in July 2024. An Independent gained a seat from the Liberal Democrats in Inverness South at a byelection on 11 April.
