Independent Group 23, Action for Powys 7, New Powys 2, Abolish the Welsh Assembly Party 1. Large rural area containing most of mid-Wales. Farming is the largest local industry; tourism is important (Brecon Beacons national park). Hay-on-Wye was converted to a book town by Richard Booth in the 1970s.

Gwilym Williams (Disserth and Trecoed) and Les Skilton (Newtown South) moved from Conservative to Action for Powys; and Joy Jones (Newtown East) moved from non-aligned, in February 2021.
