Independent 2. East Norfolk coastal town at the mouth of the River Yare. Fishing industry and tourism are important. There have been discussions about merging the council with Waveney in Suffolk.
The government proposes to merge the council with North Norfolk and parts of Broadland and South Norfolk, to create a new unitary East Norfolk council in 2027. Caister South has a byelection on 7 May (held by the Conservatives).
