Hackney Independent Socialist group 3. East London borough, including Shoreditch media industries and an orthodox Jewish enclave in Stamford Hill. Jules Pipe put the council back in order after a catastrophic split in 1996, as leader and then Mayor. Since 2023 the Mayor has been Caroline Woodley.

London Fields and Stoke Newington have vacant seats (held by Labour). Labour held Cazenove at a byelection on 4 July, and Hoxton West at a byelection on 27 June. Claudia Turbot-Delof, Penny Wrout (both Victoria) and Fliss Premru (Clissold) moved from Labour to Hackney Independent Socialist Group in May 2024.
