Derbyshire Independents 5, Independent Group 2. Wraps around the south, west and north of Chesterfield, and was formerly a centre of coalmining. Includes Clay Cross where the council members were surcharged for refusing to implement council house rent rises in 1973.

The Derbyshire Independents were formed in December by three Liberal Democrats, one Conservative and one Independent. The Conservatives gained Clay Cross North from Labour at a byelection on 10 October. Heather Liggett (Shirland) moved from Conservative to Independent in July 2024, to Derbyshire Independent in December 2024.
