Non-aligned Independent 6, Independent 2. Cheshire's county town, also including Ellesmere Port and most of the Cheshire Plain. Controversially created as a unitary council in 2009; one of the main councils featured on BBC's 'The Planners'.

Labour held Strawberry ward at a byelection on 2 October. Mark Williams (Christleton and Huntington) moved from Conservative to Reform UK in September 2025. Jimmy Shannon (Whitby Groves) and Elizabeth MacGlashan (Great Boughton) moved from Labour to non-aligned Independent in June 2025.
