Independent 5. South Leicestershire district, with Market Harborough, Lutterworth and Broughton Astley as the main towns.

The government proposes to divide the council between two unitary councils for Leicester, and Leicestershire and Rutland, in 2027. Reform UK gained a seat in Lutterworth East from Labour at a byelection on 2 July. Joshua Worrall (Broughton Astley South and Leire) moved from Conservative to Independent in June 2026. Buddy Anderson (Market Harborough Great Bowden and Arden) and Jo Asher (Lubenham) moved from Liberal Democrat to Independent in May 2026. A minority Conservative administration took over from a Liberal Democrat-led coalition in April 2026.
