Independent Group 5, Independent member 1. A cluster of industrial towns around the Medway estuary in north Kent: Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham, Strood, Rainham. Rochester, with historic associations with Charles Dickens, lost city status when it failed to establish Charter Trustees in 1998.

Two suspended Labour councillors were readmitted in April 2025. At byelections on 6 February, Reform gained two seats in Rochester East and Warren Wood from Labour.
