East Anglian county, said to have been the home of the working class Thatcherite Conservative but also containing a rural area in the north.

Labour gained Pitsea from the Conservatives at a byelection on 4 July. Ross Playle (Witham Northern) moved from Conservative to Independent in February 2024, but returned in May 2024.
