Buckinghamshire: Kathryn Gibbon, who was elected for Reform UK in Bierton, Kingsbrook and Wing ward, has joined the Conservatives. Her move means the Conservatives now have an overall majority on the council.
Chorley: Chris Snow, who was elected for the Labour Party in Chorley East ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
Gosport: Kirsten Bradley, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Lee East ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
Gwynedd: John Pughe, who was elected for Plaid Cymru in Morfa Tywyn ward, has left the party to sit as an individual member.
Sandwell: Two councillors who were elected for the Labour Party have left the party group to sit as Independent councillors. They are Claire Mayo (Rowley ward) and Danny Millard (Blackheath ward).
Wiltshire: Russell Hawker, who was elected as an Independent in Warminster West division, has joined the Conservative Party.
New vacancies
Gateshead: Windy Nook and Whitehill ward, after the death of Labour councillor Tom Graham. As his term would have ended in May, no byelection ensues.
Leeds: Moortown ward, after the death of Labour councillor Mahalia France-Mir. Since her term would have ended in May, she will not be replaced in a byelection.
West Sussex: Littlehampton Town division, after the resignation of Independent councillor David Britton, who was elected as a Conservative. No byelection will follow as his term was due to end in May.

Braintree: The byelection due in Coggeshall ward will be held on 5 March.
Tamworth: The byelection due in Spital ward will be held on 5 March.

The Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government has announced that secondary legislation will be brought forward to postpone elections due in May 2026 in 29 councils subject to local government reorganisation. 34 councils will see their elections go ahead as planned.
