The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
Aberdeen: The byelection in George Street / Harbour ward held on 25 June was won by Leon Marwick. Scottish National Party gain from Liberal Democrat.
Brighton and Hove: The byelection in Goldsmid ward held on 25 June was won by Nadia Barton Ahmad. Green Party gain from an Independent elected for Labour.
Cambridgeshire: The byelection in Roman Bank and Peckover division held on 25 June was won by Chris Tirrell. Reform UK hold.
Carmarthenshire: The byelection in Llangennech ward held on 25 June was won by Iwan Griffiths. Plaid Cymru gain from Reform UK.
Denbighshire: The byelection in Llanrhaeadr-yng-Nghinmeirch ward held on 25 June was won by Ian Evans. Independent gain from Plaid Cymru.
Denbighshire: The byelection in Rhyl South ward held on 25 June was won by Tony Thomas. Reform UK gain from an Independent elected for Labour.
Ealing: The byelection in North Acton ward held on 25 June was won by Marijn van de Geer. Green Party hold.
Hackney: The election in Dalston ward held on 25 June was won by Manal Massalha. Green Party hold.
Hackney: The election in Hackney Central ward held on 25 June was won by Noah Birksted-Breen. Green Party hold.
Halton: The byelection in Farnworth ward held on 25 June was won by Louise Nolan. Labour hold.
Haringey: The byelection in Northumberland Park ward held on 25 June was won by Ajda Ovat. Labour gain from Green Party.
Haringey: The byelection in Woodside ward held on 25 June was won by Elara Shurety. Green Party gain from Labour.
Hertsmere: The byelection in Bushey Patk ward held on 25 June was won by Linda Silver. Conservative gain from Liberal Democrat.
Highland: The byelection in East Sutherland and Edderton ward held on 25 June was won by John Murray, who stood as an Independent candidate. It is not clear which group on the council he will join, but he succeeds a member of the Highland Alliance.
Merthyr Tydfil: The byelection in Dowlais and Pant ward held on 25 June was won by Dean Barrett. Labour gain from Reform UK.
Nuneaton and Bedworth: The byelection in Camp Hill ward held on 25 June was won by Peter Gilbert. Reform UK gain from Labour.
Rhondda Cynon Taf: The byelection in Treorchy ward held on 25 June was won by Richard Clarke. Plaid Cymru hold.
St Helens: The byelection in Haydock ward held on 25 June was won by Tony Devanny. Reform UK hold.
Staffordshire: The byelection in Stretton division held on 25 June was won by Jonathan Pyke. Reform UK hold.
Tamworth: The election in Wilnecote ward which was postponed from 7 May to 25 June, was won by Tracey Dougherty of Reform UK.
Teignbridge: The byelection in Dawlish South West ward held on 25 June was won by Pat Hackett. Liberal Democrat hold.
Uttlesford: The byelection in Stort Valley ward held on 25 June was won by George Braeckman. Conservative gain from Liberal Democrat.
Defections
Bexley: Dave Curtois, who was elected for the Conservatives in Falconwood and Welling ward, has been suspended from the party and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
Flintshire: Arnold Woolley, who was elected in Buckley Bistre East ward as an Independent and had been in the Eagle group, has now become an unattached Independent councillor.
King’s Lynn and West Norfolk: Joshua Lowe, who was elected for the Labour Party in Gaywood Chase ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
Kingston-upon-Thames: Rowena Bass, who was elected for the Conservatives in Coombe Hill ward, has been suspended from the party. It is not clear if this has implications for her affiliation on the council as she is currently leader of a Conservative group of two councillors (the legal minimum).
Oxfordshire: Ben Higgins, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Watlington and Rotherfield division but suspended from the party in April, has now been reinstated.
South Oxfordshire: Ben Higgins, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Watlington ward but suspended from the party in April, has now been reinstated.
Wakefield: Steven Lewis, who was elected for Reform UK in Normanton ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
Windsor and Maidenhead: Carole Da Costa, who was elected for West Windsor Residents’ Association in Clewer and Dedworth West ward, has now joined the Borough First Independents following the dissolution of the Residents’ Association in February.
New vacancies
Cherwell: Kidlington West ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Dorothy Walker. Term ends 2028.
East Devon: Honiton St Michael’s ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Violet Bonetta who was elected for the Labour Party. Term ends 2027.
Kirklees: Almondbury ward, after the resignation of Reform UK councillor Craig Wiles. Term ends 2027.
South Lanarkshire: Avondale and Stonehouse ward, after the death of Provost Margaret Cooper, who was an Independent councillor. Term ends 2027.
