The government proposes to divide the council between two unitary councils for Greater Oxford and North Oxfordshire in 2027. Nick Cotter (Bicester South and Ambrosden) moved from Liberal Democrat to Independent in May 2026. The Liberal Democrats held Kidlington West at a byelection on 16 July.
