The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
- Brighton and Hove: The byelection in Queen’s Park ward held on 18 September was won by Marina Lademacher. Green Party gain from Labour.
- Cardiff: The byelection in Trowbridge ward held on 18 September was won by Edward Topham. Reform UK gain from Labour.
- Newham: The byelection in Plaistow South ward held on 18 September was won by Md Nazrul Islam. Newham Independents gain from Labour.
- Warwick: The byelection in Kenilworth Park Hill ward held on 18 September was won by Alison Firth. Green Party hold.
- Warwick: The byelection in Leamington Clarendon ward held on 18 September was won by Chris Knight. Labour hold.
Defections
- Ashford: Kayleigh Brunger-Randall, who was elected as a Conservative in Weald North ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Barking and Dagenham: Three councillors elected for Labour have joined the Green Party. They are Moin Quadri (Goresbrook ward), Victoria Hornby (Barking Riverside ward) and Faruk Choudhury (Longbridge ward).
- Cherwell: Dr Chukwudi Okeke, who was elected for the Labour Party in Banbury Cross and Neithrop ward, has joined the Conservative Party.
- Cheshire West and Chester: Mark Williams, who was elected for the Conservatives in Christleton and Huntington ward, has joined Reform UK.
- Devon: Angela Nash, who was elected for Reform UK in Wonford and st Loyes division, has left the party to sit as an Independent county councillor.
- Epping Forest: Two councillors have left the Conservative group to sit as Independents. They are Maria Markham (Waltham Abbey South and Rural ward) and Shane Yerrell (Waltham Abbey West ward).
- Hillingdon: Two councillors have left the Labour group. Rita Judge (Yeading ward) had joined the Hayes Independent Party group, while Scott Farley (West Drayton ward) is now sitting as an ungrouped Independent councillor.
- Huntingdonshire: Roger Brereton, who was elected for the Conservatives in Ramsey ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Northumberland: John Allen, who was elected for Reform UK in Hirst division, has been suspended from the party over social media use.
- Nuneaton and Bedworth: Rob Roze, who was elected for the Labour Party in Heath ward but left the party last month, has now joined the Liberal Democrats.
- Oldham: Three councillors have formed a Reform UK council group. They are Lewis Quigg (Royton North ward), who was elected for the Conservatives but expelled earlier this month, together with two councillors elected as Independents in Failsworth West ward: Sandra Ball and Mark Wilkinson.
- Reigate and Banstead: Victor Lewanski, who was elected for the Conservatives in Reigate ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Stevenage: Mason Humberstone, who was elected for the Labour Party in Old Town ward, has joined Reform UK.
- Stockport: Two councillors for Bredbury and Woodley ward have left the Labour Party to establish the Bredbury and Woodley Independents group. They are Joe Barratt and Rosemary Barratt.
- Suffolk: Philip Faircloth-Mutton, who was elected for the Conservatives in Sudbury East and Waldingfield division, has joined Reform UK. Meanwhile David Nettleton who was elected as a Conservative in Tower division, has left the party to sit as an Independent county councillor.
- Surrey: Victor Lewanski, who was elected for the Conservatives in Reigate division, has left the party to sit as an Independent county councillor. He has joined the Residents’ Associations and Independents group.
- Teignbridge: Andy Henderson, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Teignmouth West ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Thanet: Rob Yates, who was elected for the Labour Party in Margate Central ward, has joined the Green Party.
- Wakefield: Martin Roberts, who was elected for the Labour Party in Ackworth, North Elmsall and Upton ward, has left the party to sit as an ungrouped councillor.
- Walsall: Jade Chapman, who was elected for the Conservatives in Rushall-Shelfield ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Wokingham: Majid Nagra, who was elected for the Labour Party in Loddon ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
New vacancies
- Barnet: Hendon ward, after the disqualification of Conservative councillor Joshua Conway over his employment. Term ends May next year.
- Burnley: Queensgate ward, after the resignation of Burnley Independent Group councillor Syeda Kazmi, who was elected for the Labour Party. Term ends May next year.
- Gwynedd: Bethel a’r Felinheli division, after the resignation of Plaid Cymru councillor Iwan Huws. Term ends 2027.
- Harborough: Fleckney ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Stephen Bilbie who is leaving the area. Term ends 2027.
- Stevenage: Roebuck ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Anne Wells. Term ends May next year.
- Tandridge: Lingfield, Crowhurst and Tandridge ward, after the resignation of Lingfield and Crowhurst Residents councillor Julie Duggan. Term ends 2028.
- Tandridge: Westway ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Ankita Sharma. Term ends May next year.
- Torridge: Milton and Tamarside ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Kit Hepple. Term ends 2027.
- Worcestershire: Bromsgrove South division, after the resignation of Reform UK county councillor Gaynor Jean-Louis. Term ends 2029.
