Independent 7, Harborne and Quinton Independents 2. Chief city of the West Midlands, largest local authority in the country. The city also includes Royal Sutton Coldfield. An engineering and manufacturing city benefiting from being close to the centre of England.

The Liberal Democrats gained Moseley from Labour at a byelection on 23 October. Ayoub Khan (Aston), who was sitting as an Independent in the Liberal Democrat group, moved to Independent in October 2025. Four deselected councillors moved from Labour to Independent in October 2026. Barbara Dring (Oscott) and Jane Jones (Stockland Green) moved from Labour to Independent in August 2025. The Secretary of State has appointed Commissioners to advise and direct the council.
