Independent 1. Chief city of the West Midlands, largest local authority in the country. The city also includes Royal Sutton Coldfield. An engineering and manufacturing city benefiting from being close to the centre of England.

Labour held King’s Norton North, and Northfield, at byelectios on 4 July. The Conservatives held Kingstanding at a byelection on 30 May. Ayoub Khan (Aston) moved from Liberal Democrat to Independent in May 2024. The Secretary of State has appointed Commissioners to advise and direct the council.
