Results
- Barking and Dagenham: The byelection in Thames View ward held on 31 July was won by Lucy Lee. Labour hold.
- North Devon: The byelection in Barnstaple with Westacott ward held on 31 July was won by Josh Rutty. Liberal Democrat hold.
- Warrington: The byelection in Bewsey and Whitecross ward held on 31 July was won by John Roddy. Reform UK gain from Labour.
Defections
- Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole: Michelle Dower, who was elected for the Labour Party in Kinson ward, has left the party and is sitting as a non-aligned councillor.
- Burnley: Alan Hosker, who was elected for the Conservatives in Hapton with Park ward but left the party in June, has now joined Reform UK.
- Conwy: Goronwy Edwards, who was elected as an Independent councillor for Caerhun division, has left the Conwy First Independent Group to sit as a non-aligned member.
- Coventry: Grace Lewis, who was elected for the Labour Party in Westwood ward, has left the party preparatory to joining the new party being established by Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana.
- Harborough: Martin Sarfas, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Lutterworth East ward but joined Reform UK in December 2024, has now left Reform UK to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Havant: Elaine Shimbart, who was elected for the Conservatives in Hart Plan ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Horsham: Alan Manton, who was elected for the Conservatives in West Chiltington, Thakeham and Ashington ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Manchester: Muqaddasah Bano, who was elected for the Labour Party in Whalley Range ward, has been suspended from the Labour group and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
- Middlesbrough: Christine Cooper, an Independent councillor for Trimdon ward, has left the Middlesbrough Independent Councillors Association group.
- North Lanarkshire: Andrew Duffy-Lawson, who was elected for the Labour Party in Motherwell North ward, has been suspended from the party whip and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
- Norwich: Liam Calvert, who was elected for the Green Party in Wensum ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Southwark: Laura Johnson, who was elected for the Labour Party in Chaucer ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Surrey: Andy Lynch, who was elected for the Conservatives in Horley West, Salfords and Sidlow division, has joined Reform UK.
- Tamworth: Two councillors have left the Conservative group to help form the Tamworth Independent Councillors Group. They are Tina Clements (Wilnecote ward) and Samuel Smith (Spital ward).
- Warwick: Three councillors have left the Labour group to sit as Independent councillors. They are Claire Wightman and Paul Wightman (both Warwick All Saints and Woodloes ward) and Daniel Browne (Warwick Aylesford ward).
- Wirral: Richie Pitt, who was elected for the Labour Party in Pensby and Thingwall ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Wolverhampton: Greg Brackenridge, who was elected for the Labour Party in Wednesfield South ward, has been suspended from the Labour whip and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
- Worthing: Charles James, who was elected for the Conservatives in Durrington ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.

- Babergh: Copdock and Washbrook ward, after the death of Liberal Democrat councillor David Busby. Term ends 2027.
- Birmingham: Moseley ward, after the death of Labour councillor Kerry Jenkins. Term ends May next year.
- Breckland: Thetford Castle ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Hazel McCambridge. Term ends 2027.
- Brighton and Hove: Queen’s Park ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Tristram Burden. Term ends 2027.
- Newham: Plaistow South ward, after the death of veteran Labour councillor Neil Wilson. Term ends May next year.
- South Ayrshire: Ayr North ward, after the death of Independent councillor Mark Dixon, who had been elected for the Scottish National Party. Term ends 2027.
- Walsall: Pelsall ward, after the impending resignation of Conservative councillor Garry Perry. Term ends 2028.
- Wigan: Wigan Central ward, after the death of veteran Labour councillor George Davies. Term ends May next year.
