The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
Camden: The byelection in Regent’s Park ward held on 9 July was won by Nanouche Umeadi. Labour gain from the Green Party.
Cardiff: The byelection in Splott ward held on 9 July was won by James Caruana. Labour hold.
Flintshire: The byelection in Argoed and New Brighton ward held on 9 July was won by Faron Hadfield-Jones. Liberal Democrat hold.
Flintshire: The byelection in Connah’s Quay Central ward held on 9 July was won by Dave Vernon. Reform UK gain from a member of the ‘True Independents’.
Gateshead: The byelection in High Fell ward held on 9 July was won by Lindsay Atkinson. Reform UK hold.
Gwynedd: The byelection in Llanrug ward held on 9 July was won by Rhys Parry, who stood as an Independent candidate and gains the seat from Plaid Cymru.
Lambeth: The byelection in Clapham Park ward held on 9 July was won by Michael Ball. Green Party hold.
Lambeth: The byelection in Streatham St Leonard’s ward held on 9 July was won by Alex Davies. Liberal Democrat gain from an Independent elected for the Green Party.
North Norfolk: The byelection in Suffield Park ward held on 9 July was won by Tyler Wragg. Liberal Democrat hold.
Pembrokeshire: The byelection in Pembroke Dock Market ward held on 9 July was won by Jamie Street. Conservative gain a seat previously held by an Independent councillor.
Waverley: The byelection in Haslemere West ward held on 7 July was won by Oli Leach. Liberal Democrat hold.
Defections
East Renfrewshire: Annette Ireland, who was elected for the Scottish National Party in Clarkston, Netherlee and Williamwood ward but left the party in April 2024, has now returned to it.
Flintshire: Two members of the True Independents group have joined Reform UK. They are Roz Mansell (Connah’s Quay Wepre ward) and Mike Peers (Buckley Pentrobin ward).
Highland: John Grafton, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Caol and Mallaig ward, has been expelled from the party; Chris Birt, who was elected for the Scottish National Party in Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh ward, has been suspended from the party, and Sean Kennedy, an Independent councillor for Dingwall and Seaforth ward who had been a member of the Highland Independent group, has left the group, all to sit as non-aligned councillors. These moves follow criticism of the licensing committee’s decision to grant a taxi licence to a man convicted of rape.
