New vacancies

  • Barrow-in-Furness: Dalton South ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Shaun Blezard. Term ends 2023.
  • Doncaster: Wheatley Hills and Intake ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Daniel Barwell, who is currently remanded in custody without bail on an extradition warrant. Term ends 2025.
  • Dorset: Lyme and Charmouth ward, after the impending resignation of Conservative councillor Daryl Turner. Term ends 2023.
  • Dudley: Halesowen South ward, after the death of Conservative councillor David Vickers who was deputy leader of the council. Term ends 2024.
  • Hartlepool: Rural West ward, after the death of Conservative councillor and Mayor Brenda Loynes. Term ends 2025.
  • Lambeth: Clapham Town ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Christopher Wellbelove. His term would have ended in May so a byelection will not follow.
  • Melton: Melton Sysonby ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Tejpal Bains. Term ends 2023.
  • Pendle: Barrowford and Pendleside ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Linda Crossley. Term ends 2025.
  • Rhondda Cynon Taf: Cymmer division, after the resignation of Labour councillor Margaret Tegg due to ill health. Her term was due to end in May so no byelection will follow.
  • Scarborough: Mayfield ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor David Chance. Term ends 2023.
  • Sevenoaks: Fawkham and West Kingsdown ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Faye Parkin. Term ends 2023.
  • South Tyneside: Harton ward, after the death of Labour councillor Rob Dix. Term ends 2023.
  • Test Valley: North Baddesley ward, after the impending resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Simon Cross. Term ends 2023.
  • Thanet: Nethercourt ward, after the disqualification of Labour councillor Liz Green, who failed to attend any meetings in six months. Term ends 2023.

Other updates

  • Uttlesford: The council has been designated under section 62A of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 for poor planning performance. Accordingly major applications can be made directly to the Planning Inspectorate.
