The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
- Highland: The byelection in Aird and Loch Ness ward held on 11 March was won by David Fraser. Independent gain from Conservative.
- Scottish Borders: The byelection in Leaderdale and Melrose ward held on 11 March was won by Jenny Linehan. Conservative gain from Scottish National Party.
- West Lothian: The byelection in Livingston South ward held on 11 March was won by Maria MacAulay. Scottish National Party hold.
Changes of allegiance
- Breckland: Roy Brame, who was elected for the Conservatives in Thetford Castle ward, has left the party to sit as a non-aligned Independent councillor.
- Bristol: Jo Sergeant, who was elected for the Labour Party in Avonmouth and Lawrence Weston ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Derby: Frank Harwood, who was elected for the Conservatives in Oakwood ward but left the party in June last year, has now joined the Liberal Democrats. In addition two councillors representing Derwent ward have left the Conservative group to sit as Independents. They are Richard Hudson and James Testro.
- Durham: Patricia Jopling, who was elected in Crook division as an Independent candidate, has joined the Conservative Party.
- Rotherham: Jayne Senior, who was elected for the Labour Party in Valley ward, has left the party.
- Slough: Madhuri Bedi, who was elected for the Labour Party in Foxborough ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.

- Arun: Pevensey ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Inna Erskine. Term ends 2023.
- Croydon: New Addington North ward, after the resignation of Independent Labour councillor Simon Hall who was elected for Labour. Term ends 2022.
- Croydon: Woodside ward, after the resignation of Independent Labour councillor Tony Newman, the former council leader who was elected for Labour. Term ends 2022.
- Cumbria: Cockermouth North division, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat county councillor Rebecca Hanson. Term ends 2022.
- Dacorum: Leverstock Green ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Graham Sutton. Term ends 2023.
- Doncaster: Balby South ward, after the death of Labour councillor Nuala Fennelly. Her term was due to end in May so no byelection will be held.
- East Hampshire: Bramshott and Liphook ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Rebecca Standish. Term ends 2023.
- Guildford: Friary and St Nicholas ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Caroline Reeves. Term ends 2023.
- Guildford: Pirbright ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Gordon Jackson who was elected as a Conservative. Term ends 2023.
- Isle of Wight: Ryde North West division, after the death of Conservative councillor Adrian Axford. His term would have ended in May so no byelection will follow.
- Luton: High Town ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Rachel Hopkins, now Member of Parliament for Luton South. Term ends 2023.
- Luton: Round Green ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Mark Rivers. Term ends 2023.
- Merton: St Helier ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Kelly Braund. Term ends 2022.
- Norfolk: Thetford East division, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Roy Brame. His term was due to end in May so he will not be replaced.
- North Yorkshire: Harrogate Bilton and Nidd Gorge division, after the death of Liberal Democrat county councillor Geoff Webber. Term ends 2022.
- Rhondda Cynon Taf: Penrhiwceiber division, after the disqualification of Cynon Valley Party councillor Gavin Williams who last attended a council meeting in March 2020. Term ends 2022.
- Rossendale: Stacksteads ward, after the death of Independent councillor Terry Haslam-Jones. Term ends 2023.
- Sevenoaks: Brasted, Chevening and Sundridge ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Robert Piper. Term ends 2023.
- South Ribble: Longton and Hutton West ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Colin Clark. Term ends 2023.
- Sunderland: Washington South ward, after the resignation of Green Party councillor Dom Armstrong. His term was extended to this May so no byelection will follow.
Dates for byelections
- In England, all current vacancies which do not fill a term ending in 2021 will be held on 6 May 2021, the ordinary day for local elections. The Cabinet Office has confirmed that local elections teams should not plan on this date being brought forward. Regulations in Wales require outstanding byelections to be held in a period between 1 March and 6 May 2021.
