Rotherham Democratic Party 11, non-aligned 4, Independent 2. South Yorkshire industrial town based on the iron and steel industry but now attracting high technology manufacturing. Includes the Dearne Valley and some ex-mining areas. The council's failures to protect children from sexual exploitation led to it being taken over by Commissioners in 2014.
There are vacancies in Anston and Woodsetts, Maltby and Rother Vale wards (each held by Labour). Kerry Albiston (Valley) and Ian Jones (Rotherham West) moved from Labour to Independent in October 2020. Simon Evans (Wath) moved from Labour to non-aligned in June 2020.
