The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
Cannock Chase: The byelection in Hednesford Green Heath ward held on 7 August was won by Paul Jones. Reform UK gain from Labour.
Carmarthenshire: The byelection in Barnstaple with Westacott ward held on 7 August was won by Carmelo Colasanto. Reform UK gain from Labour.
Durham: The byelection in Easington and Shotton division held on 7 August was won by Louise Penders. Reform UK hold.
Defections
Birmingham: Two councillors elected for the Labour Party have left the group to sit as Independent councillors. They are Barbara Dring (Oscott ward) and Jane Jones (Stockland Green ward).
Burnley: Fiona Wild, who was elected for the Labour Party in Lanehead ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
Staffordshire Moorlands: Charlie Smith, who was elected for the Labour Party in Biddulph West ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
Waltham Forest: Justin Halabi, who was elected for the Conservatives in Hatch Lane and Highams Park North ward, has joined Reform UK.
Wandsworth: Mark Justin, who was elected for the Conservatives in Nine Elms ward, has joined Reform UK.
New vacancies
Cardiff: Trowbridge ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Chris Lay who has left the area. Term ends 2027.
Highland: Caol and Mallaig ward, after the resignation of Scottish Green Party councillor Andrew Baldrey. Term ends 2027.
Stirling: Stirling East ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Bryan Flanagan. Term ends 2027.
Surrey: Camberley West division, after the death of Conservative county councillor David Lewis. Term ends May next year.
Warwick: Kenilworth Park Hill ward, after the resignation of Green Party councillor Lara Cron. Term ends 2027.
