The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
Broxtowe: The byelection in Nuthall East and Strelley ward held on 28 August was won by Judy Couch. Conservative hold.
Camden: The byelection in West Hampstead ward held on 28 August was won by Janet Grauberg. Liberal Democrat gain from a Conservative elected for Labour.
Defections
Bolsover: Rowan Clarke, who was elected for the Labour Party in Bolsover East ward, has left the party to sit as a non-aligned Independent councillor.
East Hertfordshire: David Woollcombe, who was elected for the Green Party in Buntingford ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
Wakefield: A new ‘Unity’ group has been formed by three ungrouped Independent councillors: Jakob Williamson (Hemsworth ward) and Stan Bates (South Elmsall and South Kirkby ward) who both left the Labour group in April 2025, and Pete Girt (Knottingley ward) who left the Liberal Democrats in March 2025.
Waltham Forest: Marion Fitzgerald, who was elected for the Conservatives in Hatch Lane and Highams Park North ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
Welwyn Hatfield: Jill Weston, who was elected for the Labour Party in Howlands ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
New vacancies
Broxtowe: Stapleford South East ward, after the death of Broxtowe Alliance councillor Ross Bofinger who was elected for the Labour Party. Term ends 2027.
Spelthorne: Staines ward, after the resignation of Green Party councillor Adam Gale. Term ends 2027.
Trafford: Broadheath ward, after the death of Labour councillor Denise Western. Term ends 2027.
West Lancashire: Aughton and Holborn ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Kerry Lloyd, who was elected for the Labour Party. Term ends 2028.
