The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Derbyshire: The byelection in Whaley Bridge division held on 13 February was won by Ruth George (the former MP for High Peak). Labour gain from Conservative.
  • East Staffordshire: The byelection in Yoxall ward held on 13 February was won by Laura Beech. Conservative hold.
  • Hertsmere: The byelection in Borehamwood Kenilworth ward held on 13 February was won by Brett Rosehill. Conservative gain from Labour.
  • Huntingdonshire: The byelection in St Ives East ward held on 13 February was won by Adam Roberts. Conservative hold.
  • Thanet: The byelection in Cliffsend and Pegwell ward held on 13 February was won by Marc Rattigan. Conservative hold.
  • Waverley: The byelection in Milford ward held on 13 February was won by Maxine Gale. She was an Independent candidate but was supported by the Liberal Democrats, and succeeds another Independent.

New vacancies

  • Birmingham: Oscott ward, after the death of veteran Labour councillor Keith Linnecor. Term ends 2022.
  • Cherwell: Kidlington West ward, after the resignation of Conservative Sandra Rhodes. Her term would have ended in May, so there will be no byelection.
  • Rushmoor: Fernhill ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor John Woolley. His term was due to end in May so no byelection will be held.
  • South Ribble: St Ambrose ward, after the death of Labour councillor Ken Jones. Term ends 2023.

Dates for byelections

  • Coventry: The byelection due in Upper Stoke ward will be held on 19 March.
  • South Somerset: The byelection due in Parrett ward will be held on 12 March.
  • Test Valley: The byelection due in Chilworth, Nursling and Rownhams Ward will be held on 19 March.
  • Thanet: The byelection due in Newington ward will be held on 19 March.
