Independent 1. Based around the brewing town of Burton, and the market town of Uttoxeter. JCB is based in Rocester. The Conservative group catastrophically split in 2013, with the secessionists then allying with Labour.

The government proposes to merge the council with Cannock Chase, Lichfield, South Staffordshire, Stafford and Tamworth to create a unitary Southern and Mid Staffordshire council in 2027.
