The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Highland: The byelection in Inverness South ward held on 11 April was won by Duncan McDonald, who was an Independent candidate and took a seat held by the Liberal Democrats.
  • North Yorkshire: The byelection in Stray, Woodlands and Hookstone ward held on 11 April was won by Andrew Timothy. Liberal Democrat hold.

Changes of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Birmingham: Kingstanding ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Rick Payne shortly after his suspension. Term ends 2026.
  • Mansfield: West Bank ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Ben Brown. Term ends 2027.
  • Melton: Wymondham ward, after the resignation of veteran Conservative councillor Malise Graham. Term ends 2027.
  • Powys: Rhiwcynon division, after the resignation of Independent Group leader Heulwen Hulme. Term ends 2027.
  • Sunderland: Ryhope ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Usman Ali who was elected for the Conservatives, joined the Labour Party in March 2023, and was then suspended from it. His term would have ended next month so no byelection follows.
