The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Change of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Aberdeen: Kincorth/Nigg/Cove ward, after the impending resignation of Scottish National Party councillor Stephen Flynn, now Member of Parliament for Aberdeen South. He has said he will resign on 4 March. Term ends 2022.
  • Adur: Eastbrook ward, after the death of Labour councillor Les Alden. His term was due to end in May so no byelection will be held.
  • Bexley: Longlands ward, after the impending resignation of Conservative councillor Gareth Bacon, now Member of Parliament for Orpington. Term ends 2022.
  • Hertsmere: Borehamwood Kenilworth ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Kumail Jaffer who has a new job in Scotland. Term ends 2023.
  • Middlesbrough: Coulby Newham ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor David Smith who was elected for the Conservative Party. Term ends 2023.
  • Stratford-on-Avon: Welford-on-Avon ward, after the death of Independent councillor Peter Barnes. Term ends 2023.
  • Swansea: Castle division, after the death of Labour councillor Sybil Crouch. Term ends 2022.
  • Telford and Wrekin: Donington ward, after the death of veteran Labour councillor Liz Clare. Term ends 2023.

Dates for byelections

  • Derbyshire: The byelection due in Whaley Bridge division will be held on 13 February.
  • Hertsmere: The byelection due in Borehamwood Kenilworth ward will be held on 13 February.
  • Huntingdonshire: The byelection due in St Ives East ward will be held on 13 February.
  • Middlesbrough: The byelection due in Coulby Newham ward will be held on 20 February.
  • Thanet: The byelection due in Cliffsend and Pegswell ward will be held on 13 February.
  • Waverley: The byelection due in Milford ward will be held on 13 February.
