North Hampshire, including Tadley, Whitchurch and some London commuter belt villages. Basingstoke itself was an unofficial new town, much expanded in the 1950s and 1960s.

The government proposes to merge the council with Hart and Rushmoor to create a new unitary North Hampshire council in 2027. There will be a double vacancy election in Oakley and The Candovers on 7 May (held by the Conservatives). Sherborne St John and Rooksdown has a vacant seat (also held by the Conservatives).
