The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
- East Devon: The byelection in Honiton St Michael’s ward held on 13 August was won by Rhys Wallis. Liberal Democrats gain a seat from an Independent elected for Labour.
- Kirklees: The byelection in Almondbury ward held on 13 August was won by Paola Davies. Liberal Democrats gain from Reform UK.
Defections
- Kirklees: Dave Rowan, who was elected for Reform UK in Colne Valley West ward, has been suspended from the party over social media posts.
- Malvern Hills: Martin Allen, who was elected for the Green Party in Upton and Ripple ward, has joined the Liberal Democrats.
- Middlesbrough: This week it was confirmed that two members of the Middlesbrough Independent Councillors Association group – namely group leader Michael Saunders and Stephen Hill, both of whom represent Park End and Beckfield ward – are individual members of Reform UK but do not intend to form a Reform UK group on the council.
- Plymouth: Carol Ney, who was elected for the Labour Party in Southway ward, but left the party and joined Reform UK in April, has now left that party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- South Tyneside: Alex Barr, who was elected for Reform UK in Primrose ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Tewkesbury: Heather McLain, who was elected for the Conservatives in Severn Vale North ward, has joined the Liberal Democrats.
- Worcestershire: Martin Allen, who was elected for the Green Party in Croome division, has joined the Liberal Democrats.
New vacancies
- Amber Valley: Kilburn, Denby, Holbrook and Horsley ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Julie Whitmore. Term ends 2027.
- Carmarthenshire: Saron ward, after the death of Labour councillor Peter Cooper. Term ends 2027.
- Cotswold: Blockley ward, after the resignation of Green Party councillor Clare Turner. Term ends 2027.
- Tunbridge Wells: Cranbrook, Sissinghurst and Frittenden ward, after the resignation of Tunbridge Wells Alliance councillor Nancy Warne. Term ends 2027.
- Windsor and Maidenhead: Bray ward, after the death of veteran Conservative councillor Leo Walters. Term ends 2027.
Dates for byelections
- Brighton and Hove: The byelection due in Queen’s Park ward will be held on 24 September.
- Charnwood: The byelection due in Wreake Valley ward will be held on 17 September.
- Sheffield: The byelection due in Walkley ward will be held on 17 September.
- South Staffordshire: The byelection due in Wombourne North ward will be held on 24 September.
