The government proposes to merge the council with Maidstone, Sevenoaks, and Tonbridge and Malling to create a unitary West Kent council in 2027. Cranbrook, Sissinghurst and Frittenden ward has a byelection on 23 September (held by Tunbridge Wells Alliance).
