The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
Aberdeenshire: The byelection in Peterhead South and Cruden ward held on 2 July was won by Angus Matheson. Scottish National Party gain from an Aligned Independent elected for the Conservatives.
Bolton: The byelection in Horwich North ward held on 2 July was won by John Scoble. Horwich and Blackrod First regain a seat lost when the previous councillor left the group.
Cotswold: The byelection in Cirencester St Michael’s ward held on 2 July was won by Naomi Bloomer. Liberal Democrat hold.
Dorset: The byelection in St Leonards and St Ives ward held on 2 July was won by Margaret Goringe. Conservative hold.
Gloucestershire: The byelection in Cirencester Park division held on 2 July was won by Andrea Pellegram. Liberal Democrat hold.
Harborough: The byelection in Lutterworth East ward held on 2 July was won by Bill Piper. Reform UK gain from Labour.
Powys: The byelection in Glantwymyn ward held on 2 July was won by Rwth Hughes. Plaid Cymru hold.
Powys: The byelection in Llanyre with Nantmel ward held on 2 July was won by Gareth Hughes. Reform UK hold a seat they gained through defection of the previous Independent councillor.
Powys: The byelection in Ysicr with Honddu Isaf and Llanddew ward held on 2 July was won by Colin Millichap. Liberal Democrat gain from a Reform UK councillor who was elected for the Conservatives.
Telford and Wrekin: The byelection in Malinslee and Dawley Bank ward held on 2 July was won by Ben Carter. Labour hold.
Torfaen: The byelection in Llantarnam ward held on 2 July was won by Jonathan Hollins. Reform UK retain a seat gained through defection.
Defections
Bath and North East Somerset: Karen Walker, who was elected as an Independent councillor for Peasedown ward and had been in the Independents for B&NES group, has left it to sit as an unaligned councillor.
Bracknell Forest: Caroline Egglestone, who was elected for the Labour Party in Bullbrook ward, but left to form Bracknell Forest Residents Group in October last year, has now joined the Green Party.
Dudley: Peter Drake, who was elected for the Labour Party in Coseley ward but left to join the Black Country Party in March 2025, has now left that party to become an Independent councillor.
Flintshire: Dale Selvester, who was elected as an Independent in Queensferry and Sealand ward, and had been a member of the True Independents group, has joined Reform UK.
Hartlepool: It is noted that Scott Reeve (Rural West ward), who was elected as a Conservative but was the party’s only councillor, is now recorded as an Independent councillor.
Horsham: Alan Manton, who was elected for the Conservatives in West Chiltington, Thakeham and Ashington ward but left the party in August 2025, has now returned to it.
Kirklees: Susan Maxfield, who was elected for Reform UK in Liversedge and Gomersal ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
