The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Broadland: The byelection for two seats in Brundall ward held on 28 September was won by Jan Davis and Eleanor Laming. The Green Party gain both seats from the Conservatives.
  • Broadland: The byelection in Old Catton and Sprowston West ward held on 28 September was won by Richard Potter. Conservative hold.
  • East Hampshire: The byelection in Horndean Downs ward held on 30 September was won by Blossom Gottlieb. Green Party gain from Conservative.
  • East Staffordshire: The byelection in Tutbury and Outwoods ward held on 30 September was won by Russell Lock. Conservative hold.
  • Eden: The byelection in Penrith West ward held on 30 September was won by Roger Burgin. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
  • Sunderland: The byelection in Hetton ward held on 30 September was won by Iain Scott. Labour hold.
  • Swale: The byelection in Priory ward held on 30 September was won by Michael Henderson. The Liberal Democrats regain a seat lost when the outgoing councillor left the party.
  • West Suffolk: The byelection in The Rows ward held on 30 September was won by Lance Stanbury. Conservative gain from Independent.

  • Horsham: Roffey South ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Roy Cornell. Term ends 2023.
  • Lancaster: University and Scotforth Rural ward, after the impending resignation of Eco-Socialist Independent councillor Jack O’Dwyer-Henry, who has taken up a job in Northern Ireland. He was elected for the Labour Party. Term ends 2023.
  • Melton: Melton Dorian ward, after the disqualification of Independent councillor Alan Pearson, who is in Australia and has not attended any council meeting in six months. He was elected as a Conservative. Term ends 2023.
  • Warwick: Whitnash ward, after the death of Whitnash Residents’ Association councillor Tony Heath. Term ends 2023.
  • West Devon: Bere Ferrers ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Robin Musgrave. Term ends 2023.
  • Wigan: Bryn ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Steve Jones. Term ends 2024.
  • Wychavon: The Littletons ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Richard Lasota. Term ends 2023.

Dates for byelections

  • Cardiff: The byelection due in Heath division will be held on 11 November.
  • Highland: The byelection due in Fort William and Arnamurchan ward will be held on 2 December.
  • Rutland: The byelection due in Oakham North West ward will be held on 4 November.
  • Thanet: The byelection due in Thanet Villages ward will be held on 11 November.
  • West Lancashire: The byelection due in North Meols ward will be held on 4 November.

Other updates

  • Liverpool: The government has made an Order moving the next Mayoral election to 2023, extending all terms of current councillors to 2023, and bringing in all-out council elections from 2023.
