Morecambe Bay Independents 3, Independents 2. Lancaster is a university city, while the district also includes Morecambe Bay and the ferry port of Heysham.

A Labour/Green Party/Liberal Democrat coalition collapsed in November 2024. The Green Party gained Scotforth East from Labour at a byelection on 3 October. Philip Bradley (Heysham South) moved from Labour to Independent in August 2024.
