The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Middlesbrough: The byelection in Ayresome ward held on 17 August was won by Jackie Young. Independent gain from Labour.
  • St Albans: The byelection in Marshalswick East and Jersey Farm ward held on 17 August was won by Raihaaanah Ahmed. Liberal Democrat hold.

Changes of allegiance

  • Burnley: The Burnley and Padiham Independent group has been wound up and its three members are now sitting as Independent councillors.
  • Bury: Shahbaz Arif, who was elected for the Conservatives in Bury West ward but suspended from the party in May, has had his suspension lifted and returned to the party group.
  • Cannock Chase: Paul Fisher, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Brereton and Ravenhill ward, has left the party and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
  • Tunbridge Wells: David Hayward, who was elected in Pembury ward for Tunbridge Wells Alliance, has left to sit as an ‘Independents for Tunbridge Wells’ councillor.

New vacancies

  • Elmbridge: Molesey East, after the resignation of Molesey Residents’ Association councillor Peter Pope. Term ends May next year.
  • Corporation of London: Cripplegate ward, after the resignation of Common councilman Mark Bostock. Term ends 2025.
  • Corporation of London: Farringdon Within ward, after the resignation of Common councilman Caroline Addy. Term ends 2025.
  • South Norfolk: Mulbarton and Stoke Holy Cross ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Julian Fulcher. Term ends 2027.
  • Worcester: Warndon Parish South ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Andy Roberts. Term ends 2026 (though likely to be shortened to May 2024).
  • Worcestershire: Warndon Parish division, after the death of Conservative councillor Andy Roberts. Term ends 2025.

Date for byelection
