The 'square mile' (actually slightly over that) of the financial district in central London. One of the oldest institutions of government (older than Parliament). Until 2014 it had been entirely non-partisan.
There are elections of Aldermen for Bassishaw, Billingsgate and Broad Street wards on 19 December. Cripplegate has a vacancy on the Common Council.
