Lib Dems take up rooms in the Hilton

The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

North Lanarkshire: The byelection in Bellshill ward held on 15 June was won by Anne McCrory. Labour gain from Scottish National Party.
Plymouth: The byelection in Efford and Lipson ward held on 15 June was won by Paul McNamara. Labour hold.
St Albans: The byelection in St Peters ward held on 13 June was won by Juliet Voisey. Green Party gain from Liberal Democrat.
South Derbyshire: The election in Hilton ward, postponed from 4 May to 15 June, has resulted in the election of Jayne Davies and Graham Andrew of the Liberal Democrats, and Sundip Meghani of the Conservatives. The Liberal Democrats gained two seats from the Conservatives.
Sunderland: The election in Hendon ward, postponed from 4 May to 15 June, saw the re-election of sitting Labour councillor Lynda Scanlan.
Surrey Heath: The election in Frimley Green ward, postponed from 4 May to 15 June, saw the election of Helen Whitcroft, Sashi Mylvaganam and Jacques Olmo of the Liberal Democrats. The Liberal Democrats regain one seat from the Conservatives which they had lost in a 2021 byelection.
West Devon: The election in Burrator ward, postponed from 4 May to 15 June, was won by Nicola Viney and Christopher West of the Liberal Democrats. The Liberal Democrats have gained one seat from the Conservatives.

Milton Keynes: Joe Hearnshaw, who was elected for the Conservative Party in Stony Stratford ward, has joined the Labour Party.
North Yorkshire: Mike Jordan, who was elected for the Conservatives in Camblesforth and Carlton division, has left the party to sit as an unaffiliated Independent councillor. He is to be the Yorkshire Party candidate in the Selby and Ainsty Parliamentary byelection. As a result of his shift the Conservatives no longer have an overall majority on the council; meanwhile Mike Schofield, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Harlow and St Georges division, has left his party also to sit as an unaffiliated Independent councillor.

Buckinghamshire: Denham division, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Paul Bass. Term ends 2025.
East Sussex: Meads division, after the death of Conservative county councillor Barry Taylor. Term ends 2025.
Plymouth: St Peter and the Waterfront ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Susan McDonald. Term ends 2026.
Reading: Norcot ward, after the death of Labour councillor Colette Dennis. Term ends 2027.
St Albans: Marshalswick East and Jersey Farm ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Elissa da Costa-Waldman. Term ends 2024.

Corporation of London: An election for Alderman of Castle Baynard ward will be held on 13 July.
Plymouth: The byelection due in Plymstock Dunstone ward will be held on 27 July.
Plymouth: The byelection due in St Peter and the Waterfront ward will be held on 27 July.
Swindon: The byelection due in St Margaret and South Marston ward will be held on 20 July.
Worcester: The byelection due in Nunnery ward will be held on 20 July.

Thurrock: The Secretary of State is proposing to move the council to all out elections from 2025, as part of the intervention over the council’s financial problems.
