Hilton ward has two vacant seats, and Seales ward has one (all held by the Conservatives). A minority Labour administration took over when the Conservative leadership resigned in January 2021. Amy Wheelton (Seales) has had the Conservative whip suspended since December 2020. Six Conservative councillors resigned the whip to become Independents in December 2020; Dan Pegg (Linton) then joined Labour.
