The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Epping Forest: The byelection in Waltham Abbey South West ward held on 13 October was won by Joseph Parsons. Conservative gain from Green Party.
  • Gloucester: The byelection in Tuffley ward held on 13 October was won by Lorraine Campbell. Conservative hold.
  • Hartlepool: The byelection in Throston ward held on 13 October was won by Cameron Sharp. Labour hold.
  • Leicester: The byelection in North Evington ward held on 13 October was won by Sanjay Modhwadia. Conservative gain from Labour.
  • Stockport: The byelection in Edgeley and Cheadle Heath ward held on 13 October was won by Georgia Lynott. Labour hold.

Changes of allegiance

  • Bexley: John Davey, who was elected for the Conservatives in West Heath ward, has been suspended from the whip over a controversial tweet, and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
  • Cheshire West and Chester: Mandy Clare, who was elected for the Labour Party in Winsford Dene ward but left it in March, has now joined the Socialist Labour Party.
  • Chorley: James Nevett, who was elected for the Labour Party in Chorley East ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
  • Coventry: Tariq Khan, who was elected for the Labour Party in Foleshill ward, has left the group during an investigation into social media use.
  • Medway: Sijuwade Adeoye, who was elected for the Labour Party in Chatham Central ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
  • Rutland: Alan Walters, who was elected for the Conservatives in Oakham North East ward but moved to the Independent and Green group in November 2021, has now left the group to sit as a non-aligned Independent councillor.

New vacancies

  • Bassetlaw: Sutton ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Denise Depledge. Term ends May next year.
  • Braintree: Coggeshall ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Nick Unsworth. Term ends May next year.
  • Harrogate: Harrogate Harlow ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Jim Clark. As his term was due to end when the authority is abolished at the end of March, no byelection will be held.
  • Isle of Wight: Brighstone, Calbourne and Shalfleet division, after the resignation of former Conservative leader Steve Hastings. Term ends 2025.
  • Norfolk: Gaywood North and Central division, after the resignation of Conservative county councillor Graham Middleton to concentrate on his borough role. Term ends 2025.
  • Rhondda Cynon Taf: Abercynon ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Marcia Rees-Jones. Term ends 2027.
  • Staffordshire: Biddulph North division, after the death of Conservative councillor Ian Lawson. Term ends 2025.
  • Staffordshire Moorlands: Biddulph West ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Ian Lawson. Term ends May next year.

  • Ashfield: The byelection due in Hucknall Central ward will be held on Wednesday 23 November.
  • Bassetlaw: The byelection due in Sutton ward will be held on 24 November.
  • Bolsover: The byelection due in Pinxton ward will be held on 17 November.
  • Braintree: The byelection due in Braintree South ward will be held on 10 November.
  • Braintree: The byelection due in Coggeshall ward will be held on 10 November.
  • Isle of Wight: The byelection due in Brighstone, Calbourne and Shalfleet division will be held on 24 November.
  • Oldham: The byelection due in Hollinwood ward will be held on 17 November.
  • Rhondda Cynon Taf: The byelection due in Abercynon ward will be held on 17 November.
