The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
- Chelmsford: The byelection in Writtle ward held on 1 July was won by Andrew Thorpe-Apps. Conservative hold.
- Elmbridge: The byelection in Cobham and Downside ward held on 1 July was won by Robin Stephens. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
- Enfield: The byelection in Bush Hill Park ward held on 1 July was won by Peter Fallart. Conservatives regain a seat lost through defection of the previous councillor.
- Islington: The byelection in Tollington ward held on 1 July was won by Mick Gilgunn. Labour hold.
- Newark and Sherwood: The byelection for two seats in Bridge ward on 1 July was won by Jack Kellas and Simon Haynes. The Conservatives gain both seats from Independents.
- North East Lincolnshire: The byelection in Heneage ward on 1 July was won by Catherine Hogan. Conservative gain from Labour.
- Stoke-on-Trent: The byelection in Penkhull and Stoke ward held on 1 July was won by Dean Richardson. Conservative gain from an Independent elected as a City Independent. As a result the Conservatives now have half of the total councillors.
Changes of allegiance
- Darlington: Sajna Ali, who was elected for the Labour Party in Northgate ward, has joined the Conservative Party. Also Lynn Paley, who was elected for the Labour Party in Harrowgate Hill ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Eilean Siar: Roddy Mackay, who was elected as an Independent candidate in Beinn na Faoghla Agus Uibhist A Tuath ward, has joined the Scottish Green Party. Under party rules he must remain an Independent until elected under the party’s banner.
- Portsmouth: Linda Symes, who was elected for the Conservatives in Eastney and Craneswater ward, but was suspended from the party in June 2020 and had been sitting as an Independent, has now been readmitted to the whip.
- Stoke-on-Trent: Candi Chetwynd, who was elected for the Labour Party in Ford Green and Smallthorne ward but left the party in April, has now joined the Conservative Party.
New vacancies
- Calderdale: Ryburn ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Rob Holden. Term ends 2023.
- Cumbria: Corby and Hayton division, after the resignation of Independent county councillor Bill Graham. Term ends 2022.
- Dover: Alkham and Capel-le-Ferne ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Jamie Rose. Term ends 2023.
- Dover: Sandwich ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor and council deputy leader MJ Holloway. Term ends 2023.
- Newport: Graig division, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Margaret Cornelious. Term ends 2022.
- Tewkesbury: Brockworth East ward, after the resignation of Brockworth First councillor Sara Stevens. Term ends 2023.
Dates for byelections
- Dover: The byelection due in Alkham and Capel-le-Ferne ward will be held on 22 July.
- Tower Hamlets: The byelection due in Weavers ward will be held on 12 August.

- Buckinghamshire: An election petition has been lodged seeking a recount in the Totteridge and Bowerdean division, which was won by three Wycombe Independent councillors.
- Oldham: An election petition has been lodged against the result of the May election in Coldhurst ward, won by Labour councillor Abdul Jabbar.
- Oxfordshire: An election petition has been lodged against the result of the May election in Banbury Ruscote division, won by Conservative county councillor Jayne Strangwood.
