The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Changes of allegiance
Cornwall: John Fitter, who was elected for the Conservative Party in St Mawgan and Colan division, has left the party to sit as a non-aligned councillor.
Doncaster: George Derx, who was elected for the Labour Party in Stainforth and Barnby Dun ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
Birmingham: Quinton ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor and former council leader John Clancy. Term ends 2022.
Hartlepool: Seaton ward, after the resignation of Putting Seaton First councillor James Black who has taken a politically restricted post. No byelection will be held as his term was extended to May next year.
Maldon: Heybridge East ward, after the resignation of veteran Conservative councillor Bryan Harker. Term ends 2023.
Redbridge: Seven Kings ward, after the death of Labour councillor Stuart Bellwood. Term ends 2022.
Wakefield: Airedale and Ferry Fryston ward, after the disqualification of Independent councillor Alex Kear. Term ends 2023.
Dates for byelections
In England, all current vacancies which do not fill a term ending in 2021 will be held on 6 May 2021, the ordinary day for local elections. In Wales, all byelections will be held in a period between 1 February and 16 April 2021.
