Culturally distinct from England; tourism and agriculture have taken over from tin mining.

St Columb Minor and Colan has a byelection on 18 December (held by an Independent elected for Reform UK). Pauline Giles (St Blazey) moved from Conservative to Independent non-aligned in November 2025. Rowland O’Connor (St Columb Major, St Mawgan and St Wenn) left from Reform UK in October 2025 and subsequently formed the Cornish Independent Nonaligned group with four more Reform UK defectors.
