Maldon District Independent Group 6, District Support Group 4, Independent 1, Independent Conservative 1, Party of Women 1. Coastal Essex area around the Blackwater Estuary and the Dengie peninsula; includes a large area of tidal marshland.

The government proposes to merge the council with Brentwood and Chelmsford to create a new unitary Mid Essex council in 2027. Kevin Jennings (Maldon North) moved from Liberal Democrat to Maldon District Independent Group in June 2026. Adrian Fluker (Southminster) and Matthew Neall (Tillingham) moved from Residents Alliance to Reform UK in February 2026.
