The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
- Bromley: The byelection in Hayes and Coney Hall ward held on 7 December was won by Josh Coldspring-White. Conservative hold.
- Denbighshire: The byelection in Dawdon division held on 7 December was won by James May. Labour hold.
- Hertfordshire: The byelection in Harpenden Rural division held on 7 December was won by Allison Wren. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
- North Norfolk: The byelection in Briston ward held on 7 December was won by Andrew Fletcher. Liberal Democrat hold.
- St Albans: The byelection in Sandridge and Wheathampstead ward held on 7 December was won by Simon Johns. Liberal Democrat hold.
Changes of allegiance
- Brighton and Hove: Two councillors elected for the Labour Party have been expelled and deprived of the whip, over claims they live in Leicester which they deny. The two are Bharti Gajjar (Kemptown ward) and Chandni Mistry (Queen’s Park ward).
- Doncaster: Bev Chapman, who was elected for Mexborough First in Mexborough ward, but left the group last month, has now joined the Labour Party.
- Kensington and Chelsea: Mona Adam, who was elected for the Labour Party in Golborne ward, has joined the Green Party.
- Kent: Two councillors who had the Conservative whip suspended last month, have returned to the group. They are Trevor Shonk (Ramsgate division) and Linda Wright (Birchington and Rural division).
- Oxfordshire: Sally Povolotsky, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Hendreds and Harwell division, has left the party to sit as an ungrouped Independent councillor.
- Vale of White Horse: Sally Povolotsky, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Steventon and the Hanneys ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
New vacancies
- East Riding of Yorkshire: Minster and Woodmansey ward, after the death of Liberal Democrat councillor Peter Astell. Term ends 2027.
- East Riding of Yorkshire: Tranby ward, after the death of Liberal Democrat councillor Viv Padden. Term ends 2027.
Dates for byelections
- Brighton and Hove: The byelection due in South Portslade ward will be held on 11 January 2024.
- Cheshire East: The byelection due in Crewe Central ward will be held on 8 February 2024.
- Dorset: The byelection due in Littlemoor and Preston ward will be held on 11 January 2024.
- Hackney: The byelection due in Cazenove ward will be held on 18 January 2024.
