The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Result
Redcar and Cleveland: The byelection in Normanby ward held on 22 December was won by Paul Salvin. Conservative gain from Labour.
Changes of allegiance
Blackpool: Derek Robertson, who was elected for the Conservatives in Waterloo ward but left the party last month, has joined the Reform Party. He remains a non-aligned Independent on the council.
Bolsover: Peter Roberts, who was elected as an Independent in Whitwell ward, has left the Independent group to sit as a non-aligned Independent.
Conwy: David Carr, who was elected for the Labour Party in Colwyn division but left the party in September, has left the Allied Independents group to form a joint Green/Independent group with the council’s only Green Party councillor.
South Kesteven: Matthew Lee, who was elected for the Conservatives in Stamford St Mary’s ward, has left the group to sit as an unaligned Independent councillor.
Wrexham: Beryl Blackmore, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Marford and Hoseley ward, has joined the Independent group. Although the situation is not clear she appears to remain a Liberal Democrat member.
Bristol: Hotwells and Harbourside ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Alex Hartley. Term ends 2024.
Broadland: Hellesdon South East ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Sue Prutton. Her term would have ended in May so there will be no byelection.
Broadland: Sprowston Central ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Breanne Cook. Her term was due to end in May so no byelection will follow.
Crawley: Pound Hill South and Worth ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Andrew Belben. As his term was due to end in May, he will not be replaced.
Edinburgh: Corstorphine/Murrayfield ward, after the resignation of Scottish National Party councillor Frank Ross. Term ends 2027.
North Warwickshire: Coleshill North ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Jack Deakin. His term was due to end in May so there will be no byelection. He remains a councillor on Birmingham City Council.
Stirling: Dunblane and Bridge of Allan ward, after the death of Scottish National Party councillor Graham Houston. Term ends 2027.
Date for byelection
Rotherham: The byelection due in Keppel ward will be held on 26 January.
Other updates
Cheltenham: A correction to last week’s report. The vacancy in Battledown ward is actually for a term ending in 2024, so a byelection will be held.
