The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
Bridgend: The byelection in Bridgend Central ward held on 11 August was won by Steven Easterbrook. Independent gain from Labour; the winner is expected to join the Bridgend County Independents group.
Spelthorne: The byelection in Laleham and Shepperton Green ward held on 11 August was won by Karen Howkins. The Conservatives regain a seat lost when the previous councillor left the party.
Wychavon: The byelection in Dodderhill ward held on 11 August was won by Rick Deller. Conservative hold.
Changes of allegiance
Eden: John Lynch, who was elected for the Conservatives in Penrith East ward, has left the party to sit as an unaligned Independent councillor.
Erewash: Denise Bond, who was elected for the Labour Party in Sawley ward, has left the party to sit as a non-aligned councillor. It is also noted that Terry Holbrook and Michael Wallis, both elected as Conservatives in Ockbrook and Borrowash ward, are also non-aligned councillors.
Moray: James Allan, who was elected as a Conservative in Heldon and Laich ward, has left the party to sit as a Conservative non-aligned councillor.
Lichfield: Chasetown ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Samuel Tapper who is emigrating to Japan. Term ends 2023.
Monmouthshire: Devauden division, after the death of Conservative councillor Bob Greenland. Term ends 2027.
Stoke-on-Trent: Bentilee and Ubberley ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Stephen Funnell. Term ends 2023.
Warrington: Grappenhall ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Ryan Bate who is moving to the USA. Term ends 2025.
Warrington: Grappenhall ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Mike Biggin. Term ends 2025.
Wiltshire: Salisbury St Paul’s division, after the death of Conservative councillor Mary Webb. Term ends 2025.
Dates for byelections
Argyll and Bute: The byelection due in Kintyre and the Islands ward will be held on 29 September.
Bolton: The byelection due in Rumworth ward will be held on 15 September.
Ceredigion: The byelection due in Lampeter division will be held on 6 October.
Coventry: The byelection due in Sherbourne ward will be held on 22 September.
Mansfield: The byelection due in Oak Tree ward will be held on 15 September.
Stoke-on-Trent: The byelection due in Bentilee and Ubberley ward will be held on 22 September.
Other updates
North Lanarkshire: Following a scandal involving the council leader and the defection of a councillor (see above), the Scottish National Party administration has been removed and a minority Labour administration elected by one vote.
