Paul Maginnis (Sawley) moved from Conservative to Reform UK in October 2025. Lorna Maginnis (Nottingham Road) moved from Conservative to Independent in October 2025. Mick Pace (Derby Road West) moved from Labour to Independent in October 2025. At byelections on 1 May, the Conservatives gained seats from Labour in Kirk Hallam and Stanton by Dale, and Nottingham Road wards; Reform UK gained a seat from Labour in Cotmanhay ward.
