The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • East Cambridgeshire: The byelection in Ely West ward held on 18 April was won by Ross Trent. Liberal Democrat hold.
  • Pembrokeshire: The byelection in St Ishmaels division held on 16 April was won by Claire George. Conservative gain from Independent.
  • Waverley: The byelection in Farnham Castle ward held on 18 April was won by Alan Earwaker, Mayor of Farnham Town. Farnham Residents’ Association hold.

Change of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Bury: Radcliffe East ward, after the disqualification of Independent councillor James Mason (who was elected for Radcliffe First), who did not attend any council meetings for six months. His term was due to end next month so no byelection follows.
  • Chesterfield: Spire ward, after the death of Labour councillor Peter Innes. Term ends 2027.
  • Dudley: Upper Gornal and Woodsetton ward, after the disqualification of Independent councillor Adrian Hughes (who was elected for the Labour Party), who did not attend any council meetings for six months. His term would have ended next month so he will not be replaced.
  • Gosport: Grange and Alver Valley ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Maggie Morgan. Term ends 2026.
  • Torbay: Wellswood ward, after the death of Prosper Torbay councillor Patrick Joyce who was elected for the Conservatives. Term ends 2027.

Dates for byelections

  • Melton: The byelection due in Wymondham ward will be held on 23 May.
  • Torbay: The byelection due in Wellswood ward will be held on 6 June.
